Frequenty Asked Questions

Registration

  • Can I register for individual days?

Yes, you can choose to register for one day or both days. Registration includes the Trade Show. You can view the price per day here.

  • Can I use my PO number to pay for registration?

Yes, if your child is enrolled (not registered) and the school allows use of PO numbers for payment. PO numbers cannot be used to cover registrations for babies or toddlers. Only Kindergarten to grade 12 students are covered, as well as parents in most cases.

  • Can I use my PO number to pay for the Trade Show?

Yes, but you must contact your school for a Trade Show Pass. Passes must be submitted at the time of entrance; only paper passes accepted (cannot show it on your phone). You cannot give your PO number at the door, only school passes and cash are accepted. Most schools are in attendance so you can visit their booth to get a pass.

Tradeshow exhibit hours and walk-in fees are located here.

  • Can I get recordings of all the speaking sessions?

Not all sessions are recorded, depending on the nature of the workshop. We note the sessions being recorded in the Program guide, so you can attend those that are not. MP3s are for sale during convention for a special rate!

  • Can I share a Plus One registration with a friend?

No. The Plus One registration is for immediate family only: spouse, grandparent or teen.

  • Do you offer refunds?

There are no refunds, just as there are no refunds for tickets to a sporting event, concert, or similar event. We do allow transfers of registrations. Please contact us with the name and email of the person you would like to transfer your registration to so they will have a name tag for admission. For children, we require a registration form filled out so we have all the necessary information. Transfers are allowed up to April 7th, 2018. Fees collected are used to bless those that cannot afford to attend. Please contact if you want to transfer your registration.

    Confirmed Speakers and Exhibitors

While all speakers and exhibitors listed have been confirmed, we recognize that there are times when circumstances change, emergencies happen, etc. To that end, it should be noted that speakers, exhibitors, and schedules are subject to change at any time, with or without notice.

Seating for all speaking sessions and workshops is first-come, first-served. Seating is limited to the capacity of the room. If a session is full and no seats are available, please attend a different session. Sitting on the floor is considered a fire code violation by order of the Fire Marshal.

  • Do you offer any volunteer subsidies (scholarships) for the Convention?

Yes. We have a limited number of volunteer subsidies available. These subsidies involve working several hours at the Convention and are only available to those that demonstrate a need. Contact Shandra Wiebe

Venue

  • Do the workshops have guaranteed seating?

No. Workshop seating is first come, first serve. This allows more flexibility for you to change your workshop choices, so if you are busy shopping, meeting with teachers or just changed your mind, you don’t have to feel obligated to go the workshop you initially registered for. This will also allow other folks to attend a workshop where seats are available! If a session is full and no seats are available, please attend a different session. Sitting on the floor is considered a fire code violation by order of the Fire Marshal.

  • What is the venue like? Lots of stairs, buildings?

Our venue is several buildings: a church, school and gym. There is an elevator in the church building. The classrooms in high school/gym building are located on the main floor and second level. There are a lot of stairs; strollers are not practical. There is a wheelchair elevator in the High school building, but access must be arranged ahead of time. Plan to be walking a fair bit between workshops.

  • What about on-site parking?

Parking is available on-site for no extra charge.

  • What about lodging?

A list of our partner hotels and special room rates can be found here. We can also organize billeting for those on tight budgets. Please contact Michelle Smith if you would like to arrange billeting.

  • Is there food onsite?

Yes. We have a coffee bar that sells coffee, tea and snacks. Cash and debit taken. We also have a mission group that sets up a BBQ and sells hot dogs, hamburgers and salads. Proceeds go to towards the student’s mission trip. You are welcome to bring your own water bottles and picnic food!

Children and Youth

  • Are children and nursing babies allowed in the speaking sessions?

Nursing babies are allowed if they are quiet. Please be considerate and sit near an exit so you can leave quietly if your baby needs attention. Children are not allowed in workshops with the exception of workshops in the main auditorium. Register your children in one of the excellent programs we have available. Since our seating is very limited in most rooms, we want to ensure all seats are available for adults.

  • Are there programs for children?

Absolutely! We have programs for children and youth! BC CHEC is happy to offer a full slate of children's programs from age 3 through to Grade 12. The staff for the children’s program is provided by Kelowna Christian Center’s BRiK Church.

Sibling groups will be kept together whenever possible. If you wish for your family to be in the same group as another family, please indicate in the place provided during registration.

  • Is there assistance for children with special needs?

Learning assistants are not provided by CHEC. If your child generally has a learning assistant accompanying him or her for educational activities, you must supply a learning assistant for your child to participate in these Programs, as we are not equipped to offer specialized or individualized care.

  • Can my children attend the Kindergarten/Pre-K/Children/Youth program if I am not registered and only attending the Trade Show?

Due to security measures, pre-planned activities, and space allotment, children can only attend if a parent/guardian is registered for the convention.
